Al Ahly has dealt a significant setback to Ramadan Sobhi, the winger of Pyramids FC, who had been seeking a return to his former club. Sobhi graduated from Al Ahly’s youth academy and was promoted to the first team in 2014. In 2016, he left the “Red Devils” to join Stoke City in the English Premier League and later moved to Huddersfield Town.
During his time with Huddersfield, Sobhi was loaned back to Al Ahly, where he wore the club’s colors once again. However, in 2020, he left Al Ahly to join Pyramids FC. Reports recently indicated that Al Ahly’s Swiss coach, Marcel Koller, inquired with the club’s planning committee about the possibility of bringing Sobhi back, but management responded that a signing was “highly unlikely.”
Furthermore, some media reports mentioned that intermediaries had suggested the idea of Sobhi making a public apology to Al Ahly’s officials and fans to facilitate his return. However, On Time Sports, an Egyptian TV channel, reported that Al Ahly’s management had completely shut the door on any potential return. The channel confirmed that all offers from intermediaries regarding Sobhi’s comeback were firmly rejected.
The report concluded by stating that Sobhi’s chances of returning to Al Ahly are now almost impossible, dealing a significant blow to the player’s aspirations. On the other hand, previous reports indicated that Sobhi had decided to close the door on a potential move to Zamalek, as he was awaiting an offer from his former club, Al Ahly. It is worth noting that the 27-year-old player’s contract with Pyramids FC runs until the end of the 2025 season.
